Behavior of the week: Create & Innovate
What does it mean to be a creative & innovative leader? Can it be learned? While there is no one answer to the first question, like every behavior in PerfectCoaches, it can be developed over time by identifying specific characteristics and turning these into actionable behaviors or habits.
Let’s start by attempting to identify some broad traits creative and innovate leaders share. A creative leader develops new insights into situations; questions conventional approaches; encourages new ideas and innovations; designs and implements new or cutting-edge programs/processes.
Hopefully this sounds right but it most certainly should not sound easy. These are broad categories but each can be broken down. How could you practice developing new insights? By coming up with three alternative strategies for each situation or problem. Question conventional approaches? Simply ask why whenever you have a default reaction or instinctual response.
These are just examples to help demonstrate how the PerfectCoaches process can transform broad characteristics into actionable habits, empowering individuals to change themselves.
